Rupsha, if I recall, became a radio jockey by accident. Some smart person did spot the qualities of a good communicator in her – articulate, bilingual, warm, sensitive and a voice that can create magic on air. She was clueless about retro music – but went on to become the queen of the 9 pm retro show – Coffeehouse Classics.

She has an amazing ability to connect with people what we today proudly flaunt as ‘networking skills’. For one of our biggest specials on our primetime show – she managed to line up Pranab Mukherjee! He was then the Finance Minister of the country…that’s not all, from legends like Manna Dey, to Amartya Sen… she got all of them to speak at length on our radio station – for the first and the only time!

Together we have had some amazing adventures trying to get the best content for our radio station – be it landing up at Dada Sourav Ganguly’s residence with a 9ft bouquet after the first season of IPL or planning something special for Mother’s Day or Jamai Shashthi.

She is creative, has a knack for spotting synergies across brands and activities. She is also quintessentially Bangali in more ways than one. I wish her the very best in all her innovative endeavours.
